Education and Student Affairs

Education and Student Affairs (ESA) provides educational support for the TU Delft (BSc, MSc and PhD) and currently consists of four departments: the Shared Service Center (SSC), Central International Office (CIO), Student & Staff Facilities (SSF), and Sports and Culture (S&C). ESA is known within the TU Delft for the high-quality service it provides and has a pro-active and solution-oriented culture. The SSF Department is responsible for Career & Counseling Services and Educational Support, including support for various educationally innovative programmes such as the Extension School for Open & Online Learning and the TU Delft Teaching Lab currently being established. The department’s mission is to be a catalyst for educational innovation at the TU Delft.

The Focus Centre for Expertise in Education (OC Focus) is part of the Department of Student and Staff Facilities. OC Focus supports teachers and faculties in their mission to provide sound and stimulating education. The most important tasks of the centre are:

• didactic and educational training, supervising and advising of teachers (teams) and directors of education;

• (co-)design and realisation of stimulating (blended) learning environments;

• supervising and executing educational (policy) projects;

• disseminating expertise and experiences with educational innovations within the TU Delft.
The current emphases of OC Focus are stimulating education, online and blended learning, digital and formative assessment and the didactics of design education.

Job description

As Educational Advisor/Trainer, you will work in a dynamic, technical and scientific setting with professional colleagues. Your main responsibilities lie in the area of developing and executing didactic trainings for two target groups: PhD candidates within the Doctoral Education Programme, and lecturers within the University Teaching Qualification Programme. The emphasis of this opportunity is on providing didactic trainings geared at teaching in a technical university setting.


You function at an academic level and have broad knowledge of education and experience in the area of educational development and training. You also have experience with teaching in a higher education setting. You possess specific expertise in the area of stimulating education. A degree in education is an advantage. You are committed, enthusiastic, flexible and decisive, and you familiarise yourself quickly and easily with new tasks.

The TU Delft is a bilingual organisation, and OC's trainings are offered primarily in English. A good command of English is therefore required, along with good spoken and written communication skills.

Conditions of employment

This position is for 32 hours per week (0,8 FTE). It is offered as a temporary appointment for 1 year, with prospect of extension based on good performance. The salary is based on scale 11 (maximum of €4.757,- gross per month with a full-time appointment).
