University Corporate Office - Department of Communication

TU Delft has the strong ambition to contribute to a sustainable 21st century. By pushing boundaries in technological research, by training engineers who play a central role in society and, together with companies, by translating knowledge into innovation. The Communication Directorate helps the university realize this ambition. We wish to keep our 25,000 students and 5,000 employees informed and involved, as well as companies, policy makers, alumni, and of course high-school students who wish to study at TU Delft. The Communication Directorate ensures that everything runs smoothly, also within the organization itself. We do this with 150 communication employees - divided over faculties, support services and a central department - who together use a wide spectrum of communication resources and competences. The department has an open and pleasant atmosphere and is used to working in a dynamic, young and international environment.

In this position you will be seconded from the Communication department to the Education and Student Affairs (ESA) department. ESA is responsible for supporting all bachelor, master and doctoral education at TU Delft. From admission and registration, study programme administration and educational logistics, to student counselling, teacher support and sport & culture programmes and facilities.

Job description

As a communication advisor within the ESA department you work in an inspiring, dynamic and international environment in a position that offers a high degree of independence and variety. You are responsible for the development, supervision and implementation of communication strategies, but also for informing and engaging students about all things related to their studies at TU Delft. Next to students, you are also involved in internal communications with employees within ESA and TU Delft-wide (e.g. PhD or lecturers). You assess the communication needs, provide expertise and translate the advice into concrete means of communication and their implementation.

You have a hands-on mentality and a creative spirit. You work with a range of digital systems and propose developments and improvements as necessary. You are knowledgeable and have a vision about digital communication and current trends in the field, integrating the use of social media in internal and external communication. To be able to do your work well, you liaise at different levels in the organisation and ensure you keep informed on the latest developments within TU Delft, but also in the world outside the University.

You have at least a bachelor degree in Communication, a master degree would be a plus. You have a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience working in the communication field, preferably within an educational institution. You are an independent and proactive thinker and doer (from strategy to execution) who always has an overview and can switch quickly between different activities. With your structured approach, persistence and excellent organizational qualities you are able to create a shared view. You have a good grasp of various digital systems (e.g. content management system, Typo/WordPress and service desk software like TopDesk). You are creative and a customer and quality-oriented networker with an eye for detail. Writing and storytelling are your passion and you have good editorial skills. Finally, a very good command of the Dutch and English language is a must for this position.
